I saw all the comments on that youtube page…wow….guess that sparked something.
Well, here’s my concern: why did they choose this song? Do the people singing it believe it? Truly, the message is still there. Do the messengers make a difference though? If any of them do not worship God, does it taint the song? Does the reasoning behind the producers (or whoever)choosing this song hurt the message? These are questions I’ve heard so far.
I don’t think I’m worthy to answer all of these. I love the fact that a love song to Jesus would be sung on such a public show. I love that good news about Jesus was shared through song to so many. I didn’t see in this youtube video that they were making fun of it in any way. I guess every person can assess this for himself, and only God knows if it honored Him. I do pray that the singers understood and believe the message. God is mighty to save!
Saw it and couldn’t believe they actually did it on a show with ratings like American Idol’s. I don’t know the details, but a lot of people tune in to that show every week. I certainly can’t say what was going on in the hearts of each singer or producer associated with the performance, but I know God is infinitely powerful and able to use whatever He chooses for His great glory.

Once I picked my jaw off of the floor, I just scratched my head. Very confused.
Joshua Harris has a cool take on it. He wrote an initial blog post that was kind of unhappy, and he got comments from all kinds of folks, including believers who work at Fox. So he wrote a follow-up based on people’s feedback, and it really challenged me:
