A few things about this video:

-I am sad, like you are, that Christmas trees are up before Thanksgiving

-I didn’t realize I was such a foot stomper

-Watching drumming sped up is really funny

-David Gray is a great songwriter

I’m leaving this morning for a retreat with some of the pastors from Providence. I was sent these pictures the other day of the place that we’ll be staying. Looks pretty amazing.

I think some very serious retreating will take place there.

I’m looking forward to it.

Oh, and here’s my playlist for the weekend…in case you were thinking to yourself – I wonder what he’ll be listening to? Resurrection Letters-Andrew Peterson, Till the Sun Turns Black-Ray LaMontagne, Ode to J. Smith-Travis, The Bell & the Hammer-This Day & Age.

I’m not sure what the etiquette is for this sort of thing…since I haven’t been involved with a a giveaway like this before.  But I thought I’d let you all know that Boomama.net has said some really nice things about Adore and Tremble, and is giving away 10 CDs…yes, 10 real Adore and Trembles over at her blog.

So head on over and comment away.

Thanks so much for all your support.

I love this definition of Worship leading…” A faithful worhsip leaders magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy  Spirt by skillfully combining God’s Word with music, thereby motivating the gathered church to proclaim the gospel, to cherish God’s presence, and to live for God’s glory.” (Worship Matters, pg. 55)

It comes from Bob Kauflin’s book Worship Matters.  If you are involved with leading musical worship, you need to get this book.  If you know someone who leads musical worship you should encourage them to get this book.  If Oscar Rogers from SNL were writing this he would say, “you need to GET IT.  You need to press the buttons above that say Bob Kauflin or Worship Matters, and GET IT!”

Worship Matters is a reflection of Kauflin’s personal experience from over 20 years of worship leading.  He is honest about his own mistakes and sins, and identifies many issues that worship leaders face….tackling each of them with a biblical response.  His approach to musical worship is theologically rich but also practically helpful-everything from examining your heart and dealing with pride, to how to choose songs.

He also has a really interesting blog called Worship Matters, where you can find CD projects that he’s been involved in and other helpful resources.

Friends, I am so very sorry for posting so many video’s lately.  I think you songwriters out there will really like this though.  I’ve never heard Jon Foreman talk so much about how and why he writes songs.

It’s long…but really good.

He also plays two songs….War in my blood at 14:45, and Southbound Train at 23:00.

Happy Thursday night.

My friend Andrew Bryant just got back from Africa, where he was documenting a medical mission trip.  I really think that Andrew is one of the most talented photographers around right now… and I’m not just saying that because I know him.  So I think when you have a second you should all go to his blog and look at his super cool pictures from his trip.

This past friday night Danielle and I were in Charlotte for a wedding, along with one of my good friends Chip Bugnar and his 3-year-old daughter Emma.  When I walked into the church Friday night for the rehearsal, Emma came up to me and said “Guess What, Guess What…..Owen is Daniel.”  What?  Turns out that her younger brother Owen dressed up as me for our church’s fall festival that night. hahahaha.

Isn’t he such a stud?
