In the college class at Providence, we’re doing a series on Jonathan Edwards’ resolutions.  Yesterday we read one of Edwards’ sermon for our students called Christian Pilgrim - it’s an amazing sermon.  I think Edwards wrote it in 1733…but it’s so, so applicable to us today…maybe even more so today than when it was written.

Anyways, we sang one of my favorite hymns yesterday (as redone by Robbie Seay), called Jesus Savior Pilot Me.  You can buy the it here.  I would advise you to go do it immediately.

Here’s the text for the song.

Jesus, Savior, pilot me
Over life’s tempestuous sea
Unknown waves before me roll
Hiding rock and treacherous shoal
Chart and compass come from Thee
Jesus, Savior, pilot me

As a mother stills her child
You can hush the oceans wild
Boisterous waves obey Thy will
When You say to them, Be still
Wondrous Sovereign of the sea
Jesus, Savior, pilot me

When at last I near the shore
And the fearful breakers roar
Grant me and the peaceful rest
Then, while leaning on Your chest
May I hear You say to me
Fear not, I will pilot thee
