I’ve started my Bible reading plan again, which means I’m in the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy).  It’s been a little while since I’ve read through these books consecutively, so I’ve been going to some good resources for help.  I thought I might share those with y’all.  Also, I would totally suggest reading through the bible in a year.  It’s such a helpful tool for those of us that need discipline.

As for resources, I’ve been so helped by John Sailhamer over the years.  I was blessed to have him as a seminary prof at SEBTS.  His book, more than any others, have helped me understand the message of the Old Testament.  Here are a few of his that I’ve found most helpful.

Pentateuch as Narrative

This is a pretty technical book, so you may not want to jump right into this one.  But for being kind of a technical book, I’ve found it to be so devotional.  The Pentateuch is the first place that God tells us what he is like….so it’s such an important book to listen to.  Sailhamer will help you pay attention to the important stuff.

NIV Compact Bible Commentary

I have given out at least 10 of these to my friends and family over the years.  I think its one of the most accessible Bible reading helps that I’ve ever come across.  It’s like getting all the really cool nuggets from Sailhamer’s other books in one condensed book.  The only thing that might be frustrating about this book is it’s brevity.  But for it’s size and cost it’s an amazing book.  I think you can usually get it for around $7-10.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for reading.

I am so deeply grateful for my friendship with these three guys.

It was a blast writing and recording OTI this past year.  We’ve already been working on ideas for OTR (On The Resurrection).  And maybe another non concept album as well.  Should be a great 2010.

I think some of you may have had some problems with downloading the file that I posted last week with the OTI chords.  So, Jeffery Lo was kind enough to create a PDF for me to post here.

Thanks Jeffery.

Thanks so much for your patience in getting these chord charts up.

Everything is here except for Rise and Fall.  The Chord names are too long to write down.  So, I think I’m just going to do a video showing how I play it.  It’s not that complicated at all.  It’s just weird because it’s in DADGAD, so some of the standard chord names don’t apply….or something like that.

Oh and one other thing, all of these chords are in open tuning.  We’ll try and get a chord chart up with the capoed chords soon.

Hope you enjoy.

I don’t think I can even put into words how thankful I am for all of your support for On The Incarnation.

It’s absolutely crazy to me that OTI is up to #7 on itunes.

As Chris Martin would say, next time you’re in Raleigh, I’ll buy you all ice cream.

THANK YOU!!!
