Well we leave this week to go record our Christmas album.  On the Incarnation is the title of this collection of songs.  About 4 months ago we set out to write or arrange a group of songs that would tell the story of the incarnation faithfully….and I’m really stoked about what we came up with.  Actually, I’m kind of giddy about these songs.  

Mike, James, Pat, Ben and I will all leave on Wednesday night….we’re going to try and make it to Nashville that night.  Then wake up and drive the rest of the way to Springfield, MO.  Why, you ask, are you going to Springfield, MO?  Well, we are going there to work with Jeremy Larson.  I have been a huge fan of Jeremy’s music for some time now.  So it’s pretty amazing, at least to me, that I’m going to get to work with him on this album.  

We’re hoping to be able to have live video from the studio…so check back here for when that will be.

I have no idea what they are saying.  But I love this melody.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

-Danielle and I had an amazing weekend at the beach.  I was there to lead music for Providences’ marriage retreat.  We had a blast hanging with the other couples…and we got away one day to Wrightsville Beach to eat a Sweet and Savory, and watch Angels and Demons.  SUCH a refreshing weekend.

-I have one and a half songs left to write for the Christmas CD (On the Incarnation).  We go to Springfield MO, in a few weeks to record.  Be on the look out for the blog/videos.

-I’m making my way through Steinbeck’s East of Eden.  I can’t believe how engaged I am in this book. 

-Canes are playing the Penguins tonight.  GO CANES!

I’ve started reading this book, although I don’t know a lot about it.  Honestly, I decided to read it because the title bears the name of one of my daughters.  And, I think it’s really interesting that in the Bible everyone who goes East of Eden is in for some trouble.  

I promised myself that I’m not going to pick up any other book until this one is finished.  Or until it’s no fun to read anymore…which I don’t think will be the case. 

One other note, writing Christmas music in May is hard.  It shouldn’t be so dependent on the weather…but for some reason it is.

It’s 10 o’clock at night, after a very hectic last couple of days, and coherent sentences aren’t coming together right now.  So I thought I’d just skip the whole grammar/sentence structure stuff and do some bullet points about my life right now.

-This past weekend I was a part of an event called Convoy of Hope.  Over 6,000 people from inner city Raleigh attended, and were given free groceries, hair cuts, dental/medial attention and the opportunity for someone pray with them.  I helped out with the entertainment.  We were able to bring in Curt “Voice” Allen.  Curt did a great job…and it was so much fun getting to hang out with him.  Also my friends, the Shelly Moore Band came out and did a set of music….they as well did a great job.  It was an amazing day.  Tiring, but amazing.

-I’m pretty sure that we’ve finalized this, so I can go ahead and write here on the blog…we’re going to be recording our Christmas album with Jeremy Larson.  I have absolutely loved Jeremy’s music for a while now…so I’m really looking forward to working with him on this project.  Mike, Patrick, James and I will be heading out to his studio in June to record.  If you think about it in the next few weeks, please pray that all the writing comes together for this project.  We  have a few songs that need to come together still.  

-I’m heading to Nashville tomorrow for a conference.  The conference is called College Metro…it’s a conference for church-based college ministries. I’m hoping I’ll get to hang with Brody while I’m out there…so I’m pretty pumped about that.  And, it looks like Andrew Osenga will be speaking to the Metro group on Thursday, which I’m so excited about as well.

-I am so into the Harry Potter movies right now. 

-I’ve been listening to Matt Wertz, Tim Hughes, One Second Bridge and the Beatles greatest hits. 

-I think I might finish “The Unlikely Disciple” by Kevin Roose while I’m in Nashville.  You should all go get that book…or borrow it from me…it’s really good.
